From the first time we visited this beautiful mid nineteenth century home in South London we were inspired by the elegance and grace of the spaces within.
The client asked us to refurbish this striking Grade II listed building in a way that would embrace all of its original grandeur whilst making it a great space for modern family living.

Our main challenges were at the basement level where the space felt dark and unwelcoming. The design called for the internal layout to be adjusted in order to create a more flexible, brighter space towards the garden (with a garden room extension to be constructed at a later date).
On the upper floors the reconfiguration worked with the history of the building whilst creating minor adjustments to provide the storage required for a family of 5, without interrupting the elegant lines of the house, as well as facilitating a generous master suite.
We are proud of the way that that through relatively minor adjustments to the plan the house has been transformed to showcase the original architecture throughout, working within a muted palette to add both elegant and playful touches through a varied range of materials.
