This unusual house in a unique setting has provided our client with the opportunity to create a truly bespoke response to their family needs.
Set on an apex plot with a wide but shallow garden, this house had a very introverted feel with no connection to the outdoor space. The brief here was to provide additional living accommodation, but more importantly to provide spaces that added interest, created views and facilitated a joyful family home.
Throughout the scheme the intention has been to encourage a generosity of space, working to provide beautiful joinery to provide a backdrop to life while concealing the clutter of a young family and curating the elements of the home to provide a setting that reflects the character of its owners.
At ground floor the new extension echoes the form of the existing street elevations but completely re-orientates the house and allows revelry in the new double height library space.
At first floor a double height space and mezzanine has been introduced to create a generous and unusual master suite.
